Creak, creak

Fuji bike, praxis bb30. Noise free for 30,000 miles. Then one day a couple of weeks ago started making noise. I have had it out 5 times in the last 2 weeks and can only make it quiet for ~10 miles before it starts making noise again. Tried several types on grease as well as Teflon tape with no success.

Also removed and lubed rear dropouts, pedals, rear qr, chainrings, cleats, etc.

Creaks standing or sitting. Gets worse as the ride goes on. Clipped in or not.

Any ideas ?

Switched wheels with no change. Also happens riding uphill hands free. Does not start until I get into the hills and torque goes up.

At end of ride I can make it creak by holding the rear brake and pushing/ pulling on crank. Seems to be coming from drive side crank or bb.

If the front derailleur is clamped on give the clamp area a little squirt of liquid lube and see if it changes.

No clamp, but I did give the mount a drop of nfs and checked torque last week
Also removed cover for cable routing and lubed after today's ride (No change)

Same noise standing or sitting, so ruled that out. Probably remove and lube seat post before next ride just in case.

The two times this happened to me both were not good at all, one was potentially deadly. I was at a Cyclocross race warming up and heard the creak creak. I had heard it before too but it seemed to be getting worse and I swore it was coming from the BB. Race starts and I get the hole shot! THen the race went up a long steep hill into a 180deg turn to a long steep down hill 30MPH at least. Had to stand on the peddals to get up the climb and as soon as I crested the top and was bout to bomb the downhill section all of a sudden I was staring through my handlebars at the sky wondering how I got in this predicament and just as I hit the ground realized the creaking came from a crack in the stem. Fortunately at that point I was only doing 3MPH.

Second time was on my Cdale MTB. It was driving me nuts so I took it too a really good local mechanic who could not figure it out. Finally took it to the shop where I got it who is run by an expert mechanic and he ended up having to take every part off the bike and flexing the frame concluded that there must be a crack in it somewhere. Fortunately in that case the frame was warranted.

Creaks can be a real PIA and they definitely can sound like they are coming from one location and be in a completely different one, especially with metal bikes it seems... Good luck.

Creaking C-Dales is not that uncommon. I have fixed minor C-Dale(and other aluminum frame) creaks with a little warm linseed oil dumped down the seat tube..Result of not great mitering and welding..

last creak was a serious PITA to find.

checked BB, crank arm, saddle rails, stem, pulleys, skewers, pedals, dropouts, swapped wheels, blah blah...

it was the seat post.

Bearings smooth, chainrings bolts removed and lubed first time bb30 came out. Swapped both wheels, different sound than the creak my knee makes.

Have not had the headset apart or seat post out yet.

Sounds like drive side bb30 area.
