It's serious stuff.

My friend built the Millenium Falcon a few years ago before the re-release recently. Found all the parts on bricklink and built it for way cheaper than what they were going for on eBay and the re-release.

You also got that AFOL in France who had his lego stolen and the interweb rallied around the poor dude to get some cash to at least replace his lego.

I've been toying with that approach for a set that is officially "retired" by Lego, but I know my kid would love to have. Walmart still has it listed at its original $60 MSRP, but sold out. On eBay, etc. it is closer to $200. I've downloaded the building instructions PDF, and glanced at the Lego Shop and Bricklink parts supply, and believe I could put it all together, but doing that for the 2,800+ pieces is something I haven't committed to yet.
