Mathieu Van Der Poel is coming...

World Cross champ, now Dutch national road champ. Nearly three decades after his father did the same. His maternal grandfather is Raymond Poulidor. And he's 23.

Peter Sagan doesn't even know who he is.

CT: What do you think of Mathieu Van der Poel’s decision to race mountain bike instead of road through 2020 Tokyo Games?

PS: Who is that?

CT: Mathieu Van der Poel. He’s a star of cyclocross.

PS: Well… everyone can do what they want. That’s it. If he wants to do mountain bike, that’s good for him.

That VdP ride was impressive to say the least. If he gets tight with a good sports psychologist, he'll do anything he wants.

(Problem knee though....might be an issue for a future GT rider. Let's hope not.)

I've watched that catch catch and pass with the shoulder slip through about 10 times now. So rad indeed!

Van der Poel now is Dutch national champion on the road, cross and XC MTB.

For a deep cycling nation like the Netherlands, this is certifiably bonkers.

If he's anything like his Grandpa PouPou, he has a LOT of second place finishes to look forward to!

His recent few years in the cross world championships...Yet he rules the entire season.

Such an amazing talent on so many levels.
