Tan/brn walls. Cleaning without costics?
What works without eating too much into the side wall?
Not too happy with Dawn, used a little Zepp Citrus, very little... I like making them dirty better than cleaning them. Time to go put the 3o3 on....

Magic Eraser is worth a shot, depending on the composition of your sidewalls. Works nicely on some tires I have, not so much on others.

acetone shouldn't damage it too much.

Simple Green works well, if you can stand the smell.

Just say no. Black tires FTW and just get on with it and go for a ride! Seriously, I don't get the attraction outside of a skinny tubed re-enaction bike- of which I have one, yes with tan walls but they look weird on any kind of modern(ish) bike-especially fake "open" tubular-look clinchers/tubeless (fauxbulars?). Using toxics like acetone and the like to try to get the stains out of your tires is just nuts. IMHO of course.

So much for the Thumper Doctrine, eh?
It is more about the sidewall not having the extra coating which stiffens up the feel of a tire. Thus they ride a lot nice if you like that kinda feel, and also the tubular reference and fan boying et al. Quote:
