Tonight, finishing late dinner with a Leffe Blonde - nice Belgian with some flavor similarity to a nice weissbier.

Later, maybe a Glenmorangie and water or a Henry McKee bonded on rocks.

Today I got my wife's Terry powered by an Athena 11 sp 3x11 gruppo dialed in better than I ever have, but I'm still planning to convert her to a Campy compact double.

FYI,

https://www.marketwatch.com/story/th...ry_top_stories

Quote:
A £13.49 ($17.95) bottle of supermarket scotch was named the “Best Scotch Whisky” at the World Whiskies Awards, the Independent reported on Wednesday.

The Queen Margot Blend Scotch Whisky from the budget German supermarket chain Lidl was the top pick by 40 international experts at the annual event, which honors “the very best in all internationally recognized styles of drinks.” Their refined palates preferred Lidl’s eight-year-old blended Scotch whisky over more expensive pours like the 12-year-old Johnnie Walker Black Label, which costs more than twice as much at upwards of $35 for a 750-milliliter bottle at some online stores.

Victory Dirt Wolf DIPA - so good.

Also have some Knob Creek small batch. I prefer scotch but Knob is prettysmooth & not waaay too sweet; and my wife prefers bourbon, so yeah.

Bought both for my barfday last week. Good stuff. Generally I let myself drink beer only on days where I ride a mountain bike. Trails have been so swampy though, I have had to make exceptions.

still drinking my usual...Manhattans made with a proprietary blend of 1792 bourbon and Sazerac.

keep some Willett rye on hand for sipping. stuff is potent (current bottle is 111 proof), but surprisingly smooth.

was at the liquor store recently and the owner's wife of the Kooper Family distillery was hawking their rye. she was, um persuasive...so I ended up taking a bottle home. it's pretty nice, but still prefer Sazerac for less money.

tried Clyde Mays bourbon yesterday (was on sale)...meh. it'll probably just sit at the back of my bar shelf until I run out of other stuff and don't feel like making a run to the store.

Yes the JWB - Brora is outstanding

90 proof makes this seem soft but it’s not. Delicious but still prefer the 15

If I could have any BTAC it would be this. Even over WLW

This is the way Laph should taste. Sooooo smooth

Got a 10 this year. A miracle. Will be interesting to A/B against the last of the squat bottle I have

Pdm..-some great scotch’s there-not a bourbon man myself. Having a lagavulin 16 and a Trillium Congress St. IPA to honor my fathers b/d (would be 106).

Raising a glass to dad! That’s perfect

The get together was to side-side various compass box offerings. The bourbons were extra credit.

Prices keep going up but laga 16 is something everyone should have in their cabinet. I avoid the laga distillers editions since I do not like the secondary wood treatments they use. I love the laga 12 because the proof is higher and it’s more intense than the 16. But now it’s getting close to $150 and that’s a lot of money. If you want to try the heavier peat style of Ardbeg the corryvecken is the one I usually mention to laga 16 fans

Pliny the Elder draft to go $6/quart.
One for me and one for SWMBO

Chips since the restaurant technically can’t sell booze without food

Desperate times.
