57mph, 2000 Serotta Legend, Bee Caves, Austin - my dad said he will disown me if I ever pull that stunt again when I bragged to him on the phone that night.

135mph 91' Acura Legend - somewhere outside of St Louis, on our way to a bike ride, my friend from Holland who sat next to me turned his head and said in a small voice, "I am never gonna sit in your car again."

So, that was that.

I vaguely remember a race in NH back in maybe late 70s or early 80's. Sunapee or something....near a ski area. I was new and probably Cat 4. There was a little climb and bam we were just hauling down a 15% hill with no let off and my heart was in my throat. I was later watching the 1, 2's at the bottom and the Statie was clocking them doing like 60 with his radar. I was like "wow", we did 60 and he looks at me and says, "no' you guys were only doing 56. I've rarely gone more than 50. in the Alps that day, I had the perfect setup and just said why not. I did hit 58 on a 17% hill on team training ride but the road surface was pretty good

Bike: 85.1 km/h

Car: probably 140 km/h

I'm too old these days to be bothered about trying to beat either of those.

I hear you, my dad would have not have approved either.

Some bikes I trust at speed more than others. Alchemy.

56mph on both tandem and single bikes. Both cased descending from Mt Pisgah Inn on the Blue a Ridge Pkwy heading down to the French Broad River.

Yamaha R1.... Speedo indicated 166 before I came to my senses.

Car.....somewhere close to 120 in my 1969 mustang.

I'll test the 911GTS out eventually

I had a girlfriend many moons ago and we did trip into the Vermont mountains. She was not a keen cyclist although we road 50-70 miles per week together. I had to push her up the Green mountains literally. We get to the top of a pass and she just lets loose. I catch her at 45 mph telling her to slow down....she says she worked hard to get up the mountain and was going to enjoy the ride down.

We're still married.

Bike: 60 mph. Coming down Wildridge in Avon, CO, west of Vail.

Car: 120 mph, in a BMW 335xi that I once owned, that was chipped and equipped with downpipes, running a mix of e85 and high octane gas.

MC: around 125 mph on the Adirondack Northway on an Ducati 907ie I owned many, many years ago.

Bike - 58mph on a hill in Missouri.

Car:
As a passenger - 255kph on the Autobahn.

As the driver - I don't know. I was driving a friend's GTi on the Nürburgring and I wasn't really paying attention to the speedometer. But I have seen 125+ more than once on the motorcycle.

Fastest on a bike: 62mph - descending somewhere near Mt Hood in 2014. had no idea how fast I was going until after I'd stopped.
2nd fastest on a bike: 51mph - descending a local county road only to be hit by a cross wind as I cleared a hill that pushed me into the gravel shoulder. Pucker x100!
3rd fastest on a bike: 50mph - behind a big rig that had just pulled on to Irvine Blvd (flat). Note to self, don't sit up when you're doing 50 behind a big rig.
I now keep it under 50.

No idea of max in a car, probably little over 100 as a passenger and never over as a driver. I did do 0-100-0 with a buddy in his GT3 and was a passenger on a hot lap at Laguna Seca in a Viper GTS (shook for an hour afterward).

115 mph on I-10 eastbound outside of San Antonio, TX in my Dad's '78 280Z. What a great car.

About .85 Mach at work. I've seen a ground speed of 617 knots. Big tailwind.

Old Potato has probably seen 2.5x that speed.

Bike 55 MPH that I know of.

Car, probably 140 MPH or so.

On a bike, my maximum speed so far is 57 mph.

Driving a car, I probably haven't gone more than 90 mph.

On skis I was once clocked on radar at 60 mph.

Piloting an airplane, I've gone just under 250 knots (288 mph) right side up, and a little over 200 knots (230 mph) upside down.

On a bike drafting, about 55mph
On a bike without drafting or tail wind, about 50 mph
On a velodrome, about 48mph

In a car: clocked at 96mph in 2nd gear for a speeding ticket. I had taken that car to redline in high gear once which works out to 135mph. I was young and stupid.
