I used to love the Olympics. Not any more. The corruption, the greed, the monumental waste of money to build useless infrastructure at the expense of genuine human need in places that really can't afford it, the abuse (physical, sexual, emotional) of athletes (especially the teenaged ones), the massive amounts of the worst sort of nationalism, the ludicrous amounts of cheating fueled by the ludicrous amounts of money . . . let's just say I, for one, would not mind if this was the start of the downward slide that results in the end of the Olympics.
