If you went to D-Light spokes for everything but the drive side and went to 28 spokes on the front wheel you'd shave 96 grams without impacting the durability of the wheelset (IMO). I don't know if a 1700 gram wheelset is "less hefty" enough to bother with, but there are savings to be had without getting too funky.

I'm local to Ben's and had them build a wheelset for a couple years ago. It was well done, still true and has had zero problems. I remember them saying they have only one guy who builds for them.

I'm willing to believe you secretly covet 105 hubs but deliberately replied otherwise just so you could arrive at this comment.

My wife has an identical (or almost identical; I can't remember if hers are 10-sp or 11-sp) set of wheels on one of her bikes, and I'm not gonna lie, I covet them for their seeming invincibility. I wanna steal them for my commuter bike.
$260 sounds like a steal. |

Just curious..first time you rode them, any "pinging" from the wheels?

The wheels look good on the bike. They’ll last forever.
How were they getting tires on? I have a wheel set built with those rims that are very tight rolling the bead. |
