Between you and me, that's at least two guaranteed gruppo sales right there. What are they waiting for?

Though if they make a 12sp rim brake group, there is a chance I would look at purchasing when my main road bike needs to be refreshed in a couple years.
...assuming they dont then also charge something goofy like $2k for it.

I meant if the new release is that and is around in a couple years when I want to change out a drivetrain.

That's as bad as Shimano's "semi-wireless"...which is still wired!
Err, that was a joke...

Could be that I don't know what a road bike "groupset" is. I'm thinking shifters, derailleurs and rear cassette as in MTB world. shrug

This exchange neatly illustrates why rim/mech is being phased out.

29-45 chain rings sound just about perfect for my 'mixed surface' bike. Anyone know if the BCD is the same as 12s Chorus? Currently have 48-32 but would go lower if I could.

Well it could (and probably should) be. The 12spd Chorus BCDs are 123mm/96mm. These have minimum chainring sizes of about 37T and 29T, respectively, so 45/29 chainrings should be able to fit.

But this is a bicycle company we're talking about. Once the figure out that users might be able to "update" to the new gearing by simply replacing their chainrings instead of buying a whole new groupset, they'll probably come up with some new proprietary "standard" to prevent that.
