A lot of us who do not build frames for a living are curious about learning some aspects of frame building. I'm curious if the fillet brazed joints are how you wanted them to look or if this is how they turned out with the allowable time? I would be interested in reading a bit of your experience building your first frame.

Hey @Deanhorsfall. Thanks for your comment here! I wish I had better captured this experience with a logbook or something. It was a lot of work, lots of respect for frame builders.

The frame actually came out almost exactly as I had envisioned it which was pleasant. If I had more time, I would have spent more time with the fillets, it's a surprising amount of work getting them nice and clean. I was dreaming of having something like this: https://www.amazon.com/WEN-6307-Vari.../dp/B072Q2FTLY but apparently it's not the same look as if you use an actual file.

It's too bad that so much specialty equipment is needed as frame building a wonderful thing to learn.

I was really lucky to have met the individual who taught me how to weld a frame. A lot of elbow grease. Hope this sheds some light into the process, let me know if there's something I can expand upon!

I sort of imagined a purist would't use a power tool in the process of filing the brass filler. I bought one of those sanders to have for general shop purposes and it works really well. ( I actually bought it to help with prep work for polishing aluminum parts). Thanks for the insight- I think a lot of us forget or don't know just how much labour goes into a frame.
