UPENN Million Dollar Bike Ride Philadelphia June 10 2023
Hello fellow Paceliners:
The UPENN School of Medicine Center for Orphan Diseases is holding its 10th Annual MDBR in Philadelphia on Saturday, June 10, 2023. Here is a short YouTube video of the 2022 event: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TGGR5QnfPgE I am the Team Captain for The LAM Foundation's Easy Breathers Team. Lymphangioleiomyomatosis (lim-FAN-je-o-LI-o-MI-o-ma-TO-sis) is a rare lung disease that usually strikes women during the prime of their lives. Known as LAM for short, this disease is characterized by an abnormal growth of smooth muscle cells, especially in the lungs, lymphatic system, and kidneys. Unregulated growth of these cells can lead to loss of lung function. My daughter Sarah, now 40, was diagnosed with LAM in the summer of 2018. The specifics of LAM: >an ultra-rare, difficult-to-diagnose respiratory disease. >affects mostly women. >THERE IS NO CURE. >and if there is severe respiratory decline, the only option for survival is double lung transplantation. Here is why I ride for LAM research: https://www.thelamfoundation.org/The...le/422#article Two requests: 1. Please support me to raise monies for LAM research, any amount is appreciated. Here is my personal fundraising page: https://charity.pledgeit.org/f/k2njZHazGD 2. If you live near Philadelphia, please join the ride as we need two more in-person riders or volunteers, not virtual riders, at the event to qualify for the UPENN $30k matching grant. It's a great ride with three distances, a beautiful jersey, and superb food following. If you can make it, please register and join the LAM Foundation "Easy Breathers" team, I look forward to meeting you. www.milliondollarbikeride.org As always, thanks for the support of the Paceline Forum.
