Campag - mid reach brakes?

Does Campag make a mid reach brake for their 11 speed series? Or long reach?

Nope.

Could get these:

to use with your Campag brakes. You'll need to change to Shimano compatible pads which isn't a bad thing.

From memory, the last time Campag offered standard reach brakes (48/56) was 1985.

I spoke to a Campag rep about 10 years ago inquiring about their potential to introduce a brakeset to compete with Shimano's R650 brakeset that was popular at the time, and received the old saw that Campagnolo only makes racing equipment. Apparently long reach brakes were considered touring class equipment.

One option

If your intent is just to use some slightly wider tires, current Chorus 12 speed brakes will accommodate some 700x32s. Not all. I’m happily running Veloflex now, but Rene Herse were just a tad too wide.

I want to throw a set of Chorus on a frame that’s designed around mid reach. If I’m not wrong, a standard set will have the pads clamping onto the tire?

I have the same dream. I have a beautiful Campy group and now need a cool 58cm mid-reach frameset to hang the stuff on. I won’t sell the SR calipers to buy Grand Crus or TRPs just yet, but that is the plan!

Or you can use something like this that gives just that extra room ...

I have bought some cheap ones in the past to try out and they worked fine. They come in different colors.

It is an oversight on their part in my opinion. The industry is running away from rim brakes in general as fast as they can….and I am running in the opposite direction. There is no doubt that “standard” reach brakes are a niche product, but these days Campagnolo is a niche company despite their inability to see themselves as such. If I had an otherwise all Campagnolo equipped bike for which standard reach brakes were needed, I would definitely seek out a set of old Nuovo Record calipers and freshen them up with a set of new Koolstop pads.
Of course there are plenty of other standard reach brakes from that era, and many of them are great quality. I got these for a project and while I am not using them with 30-something width tires, once installed the amount of clearance stood out. Just to find out I tried them with a 32 mm tire and there was plenty of clearance. Another nice feature of most of the calipers from that time period was that they almost always had a quick release on the calipers which makes wheel swapping with wider tires much easier.
