Or we get 37 and snow showers! This will be brutal. |

I was not feeling super great last night and the day before and just got up and trying to decide if I want to go do this. Weather is not great, nope. Won’t even crack 40 today. |

I ended up doing it. Pretty epic day huh?
I can't believe it snowed the whole ride. Nice climbs, that first one was brutal. Was not feeling great the first 10 miles, I think was still asleep but then I turned it around and had a great time. Will be back next year for sure. some pics... |

I was there and I was right. The sleet pelting you on every downhill was the worst. That first climb was tough. Great ride though, enjoyed the day regardless.

haha yeah it was. I was glad I have glasses. Also glad that I overdressed (I didn't but I thought I did mid of first climb) But after that I pretty much kept all my layers on.

That was a ton of fun. I really love that pocket of the Catskills. Cross Mountain is a pretty good climb and descent was really fun. Mary Smith Hill actually felt easy by comparison. I think it's harder going the other way which is the way I've done it in the past.
Weather sure was epic. I'm so glad though that it was cold enough to be snowing/hailing rather than 10 degrees warmer and just raining all day. That would have been exponentially more miserable. I was happy to have the randonneur bag along so I could bring plenty of layering options. I switched out about 3/4 of the way to my winter gloves and put on a jacket. Overall, stayed warm and the snow was beautiful. Could have done without the hail facial exfoliation treatments on my face on some of the fast descents though. 100% the junipers were perfect for this ride. grip when needed, comfortable. Apart from being noisy on pavement, very very into this tires.\
