I could be wrong...but I thought the guy who ate it was a "performance artist" but not the guy who bought it? Otherwise, why were there "guards posted" and why were there charges "that were not pressed"?

And people think adults riding bikes are nuts.

I think they auction off the first melons of the season from a specific region and they typically run 20-30k.
