Rol Wheels info, opinions

not much on the google and wondering what ya know.

i know these are not fancy name brand popular, but the specs seem competitive. wide, light, supposedly hand made in Denver. there's a used set available locally:

I've purchased 3 pair, two Volants (one for my maintenance challenged brother) and a Race SL. Other than a freehub issue on my Volant after three years of use (was resolved quickly and free of charge), they have been issue free, never had to true any of them even under my 230# riding Sonoma County's heavily potholed roads. They consistently have great deals for those on their email list and for past customers that are hard to pass up (how I bought the SLs).

Rock solid wheels and great customer service, very good price for what you get. Highly recommend.

I have 50,000 miles on 2 sets of Volant rts, a set of d'huez 24/28s, and 2 sets of race slrs. I am over 200 lbs. Never had to true any of the wheels. After 8 years including lots of new england winter riding (sand and salt) I replaced the hub on one volant wheel. I cannot say enough positive things about Rol. Great price and service.

I came across ROL when I was a poor undergrad a decade ago. They had great reviews and seemed like a no nonsense company. Years later I finally needed a new set of wheels. I went with their Race SLR. I’m supremely pleased with both their product and their customer service. I’ve already done a few thousand miles this year, rode the GFNY last weekend and the Fools Classic Saturday. They’ve held up perfectly well. If you shop around on the used market, you can find some ridiculous deals.

i rode across the country on a pair of SLRs (i was 190lbs at the time), completely problem free. continued to ride those wheels for years afterward with only once updating the tension on my rear wheel.
i have had 2 other sets with the same excellent results.
amazing customer service as well, highly recommend.

Just in case you have interest, 20% off sale

Are the Range 21 aluminum disc slightly unusual at 27 wide and 1590 grams?
