I've never sanded the pads, but will have to add that to the maintenance routine. Thanks for the tip. |

Pads were definitely Enve. Unsure exactly which Enve pads they are. New pair on there now!

Definitely actual brake track wear. You can feel that the smoothed part is lower than the remaining textured part.

stackie's replies are actually from OP, sorry.
Whoops. Realized the computer was logged into my dad's account (stackie). Sorry for the confusion.

I have a set of BTLOS wheels arriving in a week or two (with arc brake track) so curious to hear how BTLOS responds to this. Keep us posted on what they say.

Update: BTLOS' response is that this is likely due to dirty brake pads/track.
Lesson learned. |

Should not work that way, unless pad leaning against the entire time. IMO

That makes more sense, one pad dirtier, more contaminated. +100 on the Swiss Stop Flashro Black for me... Not to mention BXP for Alloy are superb IMO. Also Organic disc pads superb IMO.

could happen if one does a lot of pacelining and sits a lot on the rear brake for bleeding tiny bits of speed. Seems a bit interesting that it's the rear wheel that's worn smooth vs the front in the first place.

Here is my rear rim after one years use. Not good.
Brake pads are Swiss Stop Black Prince. Strange thing is my front rim is fine. Yes I did ride the bike in wet conditions. Color me stupid but I saw no warning, as Campy does with some of their rims, about cleaning pads after every ride on their site. Or maybe the fact that riding in bad conditions will do this? Definitely won't be advising anyone to buy their rim brake rims. |

Riding in wet conditions will most definitely cause excessive wear. Road grit and grime acts like sandpaper. Only if I happen to get caught out in rain will I ride in those conditions with carbon rim brake wheels. Immediately get home and clean the brake pads and rims. If I know it will likely be a high chance of bad weather I'll throw on my alloy wheels.

Last year they were on my Super Six Evo HiMod for five hundred miles that I never rode in the rain. Then I switched them to my Strong this January for three hundred miles and they saw wet conditions. |

Wow, that's crazy. Sorry to see you also have this issue, especially so soon.
