Pineywoods Purgatory in Lufkin

Has anyone ridden the Pineywoods Purgatory up in Lufkin TX?

I will be visiting soon, looking for recommendations of parts of the route that are scenic and low traffic.

The road from Cushing to Alazan is a nice 2 lane road , rolling with little traffic. It was part of one of my training routes when I went to SFA in Nacogdoches. I loved riding in that area. Oh, wait. That was 40 years ago. Boy, time sure does roll by.

Throwback to yesteryear

for me my take away from sfa and Nacogdoches Lufkin and east tejas was that mosquitoes 🦟 were the state bird and were much faster than me...
