Tape = black, or maybe one of the fade or polka dot options, if the color is close (doesn't look like it - the tape looks brighter). Disc lockrings or floating discs on orange carriers might look ok, but might be overkill. Right now, the matchy-match is fairly subtle. |

Matchy matchy is never too matchy matchy.
It adds figurative watts.

There is a bike here in town that has a lot of different shades of pink. The guy who owns it wears a kit that adds another 5 shades of pink. Okay, I have only seen him once, that kit may be for special occasions.
At some point it's impossible to match, and contrasting colors are better. |

Too often people just focus on the bike when picking colors. This is fine if you are going to put the bike on display in your house and not ride it.
You have to also look at what you are going to be wearing. I have some red jerseys and jerseys with red accents so the bike I ride when wearing them has red accents. But not too much. Saddles are all black and bar tape all black. Helmet is white. Fades cause problems. Different colored gloves, socks, jerseys, jackets and so forth coordinate the luck. Look at the big picture. Love it! Thanks
I'll post when the build is finished. A few weeks more of parts collecting and build.

If they have your sizes, wolf tooth makes thru axles in orange. The pop of orange at the drop outs could look good, and would match the lock rings.

On my bike, differences in color (purple & pink since purple faded on the WI anodized parts), all go together well IMHO with the grey metal tubing. |

My first thought was also that brown/coffee saddle and tape would look good. Check out @thwart's similar treatment of his etnico Duende in the gallery.
Agree with those who have said there is such a thing as too much; I'd keep the spacers and seat clamp black, but if you can find a good match in the thru axles that would work. |

Ha—this is great; my new ride will be black/orange accents, so the ideas here are helpful. Great heads up on the rotors!

YOU... misspelled WHITE! Just kidding I have a few drop bar bikes and they all have different color bar tape. Well back to the original post... what color does the "woman" want for the build? Last edited by jonnyBgood; 02-14-2024 at 03:12 PM. |
