I still have regrets about passing on a clean FJ60 in 2016 for like 6k. Prices have totally jumped the shark since then so I think that was my last chance to own one. I like the 01 Taco I ended up with instead and that was probably the more practical choice but man, those lines...

ATs do just fine in snow, unless conditions are extreme. I carry chains but have never needed them. Bloody thing is so heavy it just smashes snow down and goes over it.

@ Burning Pines: I had an FJ60 a long time ago and loved it. Not the vehicle for a long freeway trip, though. Anything over 60-65 got fatiguing. Agree about the lines, though. Just a cool vehicle.

That’s my rational also, I don’t drive much so the mileage isn’t a problem for me.

I’ve had great luck with ATs. I have BFG ATs on three vehicles and they work great in the snow for me.

My truck is a single cab and even with slightly oversized tires (32s) it gets pretty shaky above 70. I like driving slow and don’t notice it... until I take my girlfriend’s civic for a long drive, lol. The need for a daily ish driver is why I passed on the FJ.

A couple of glamour shots of the 60...

IT is a beast in the snow even with BFG AT's. I've driven it through snow deep enough it came up to the grill and it would just keep plowing through.

Picked mine up a little over a year ago, 2013. Absolutely love this thing. No mods yet, but looking at a lift, new wheels and tires.

This thread brings back great memories. Here is my 1989, which I drove coast-to-coast several times, including high mountain snow, deserts, beaches and jeep trails.

I'd still have it today if it hadn't been totaled when T boned by a driver going 40 mph. It died saving the lives of the teenagers in it. I considered rebuilding it, but this was before the up tick in the market value. I miss it, although I don't miss 8 mpg in the city, 12 mpg on the highway.

Sounds like a good built-in teenager range-limiter

Hope this isn't a thread drift, but what's the view of the Lexus GXs? I'm halfway considering an older, used one as a highway hauler and vehicle to take to Lowes/Home Depot, etc. I won't be doing any off-roading of any serious nature.
