Remember, Specialized made a Ti cage for awhile in one of their infamous copycat moves. That didn't last. Not comparing Silca to the giant S but there are many reasons that Ron has it dialed and why the cages work so well. Personally I have Ti King cages I have used for over 20 years, still going strong. "Back in the day" Paris Roubaix racers bought and used them so their bottles wouldn't fly off their bikes... just sayin'

King Ti cages
We are NOT moving to Silca as our cage of choice. Silca ti cages may show up on a couple of builds if the customer prefers, but our go-to is Titanium King Cages, for many reasons. Not dissing Silca at all. Their cages SEEM to be great and might be, but King Cages ARE great.
Thanks for corralling my comment Tyler. Edited my post accordingly.

And agreed they seem great... but still to be proven

FWIW i am running King ti Moots blasted on my CR...very nice. And Iris on the other metal bikes.

Oddly a camelbak podium bottle does not bottom out in the king ti cage. It's secure, but the bottom of the bottle does not touch the bottom of the cage.

A specialized bottle does bottom out

Better to bash Raphas than to have to ride in Raphas (because your 5 best riding pals wear nothing but).

Adult uniforms are so weird.

Oh, and cages are cages. What's the big deal in losing a bottle every 5 years when you can save a few hundred bucks.

I dont have five riding pals. I have 2-3 and none of them wear Rapha.

I mean, dont pretend you wouldnt be over the moon of Catella had similar market penetration and everyone showed up to the ride in it.

Comparing Silca as a "small company" that happens to make $1000 floor pumps to KING CAGES.

Please.

I'll stick to my Ti KING cages and Ralpha gear.

Pricing the Silca will be interesting...

Price > King...non-silca fanatics will have to justify the premium

Price = King...let the market vote

Price < King...IMHO that would be a move to take/build market share...and, anyone interested should buy before they (might) raise the price.

While I have the King experts here, which hold better...the standard design or the Iris?

If the Iris held a bottle any better you wouldn't be able to remove the bottle. You can put an oversized bottle in your bike, turn your bike over and shake the bike (and even bang the wheels on the ceiling) and it won't fall out. If you like the design of the Iris (which you should because it looks sweet) get it.

The Iris does not play well with Camlebak Podium bottles, so I prefer the standard.

The only thing better than King Ti cages - are color matched King Ti cages.
