Wow, that was scary and some very impressive engineering. Wonder if Roman will drive again this year.

They were saying something about 2l of fuel.

From my completely uneducated eye, it looked a LOT more than that

I don’t think he will do the last 2 races. Specially if he has broken ribs.

Also imagine climbing out that mess without one of your shoes?

Looking at the video of the crash, he cut straight across the front of another car.

I don't know anything about F1 cars so I'll ask: don't they have some sort of indicator of whether or not there's a car to their left/right? My $35K Toyota has it so it'd be hard to believe a multi-million F1 car doesn't.

Given the whiplash collars and helmets they wear it seems to me they'd have a huge blind spot and such a thing would be mandatory.

Anybody know?

Yeah, Mirrors. That's it. The HANS Devices they wear aren't supposed to stop their head movement or visibility, at least not for looking in mirrors. I think he just didn't look is all. Maybe he didn't think they were that close. Who knows.

The accident was insane though.

Kvyatw has a habit of sticking his nose where it doesn’t belong.

That says, the cars in front of Grosjean were all bottled up and he got a good launch out of turn 2. He was trying to maintain momentum and get to open racing space and probably wasn’t looking behind as much as ahead.

The deceleration G forces fir 140 mph to 0 in 6 feet are massive. I would be shocked if he isn’t concussed as well.

So glad he survived that horrific accident!!!

Just from my perspective it looked like he was moving slightly right but then hit a piece of debris that could have possibly flatted his right tire. That could have exaggerated the right move into Kvyat which further pushed him uncontrollably into the barrier.

Overhead shot of the whole incident.

From the moment of impact until he got out was about 27 seconds. Modern technology really saved him.

The monocoque after going through the barrier.

No flat

Right rear contacted Kvyat’s left front

I won't be letting him drive either of my Haas's any time soon.

Glad he's ok, also kind of ironic that his tenure at Haas is going to end in a ball of flames.

Saw an update on YouTube, he was speaking from the hospital. Looks like both hands got burned. Certainly not driving anymore this year.

Number one - I'm glad he wasn't hurt worse then he obviously could have been after that.

Number two - from that overhead shot it appears that he saw the openeing on the other side of the track and went for it across the track and clipped the other car as he did it.

Number three: Over the last year or two he seems to get himself into "situations" quite often, eventually things can go south badly if he keeps putting himself in those types of situations.

Number four - Refer back to Number one.
