Two David Kirks. One with steel fork and standard stays, one with a carbon fork and Terraplane stays. You'll pry them from my cold, dead fingers, etc.

Gios Super Record that I bought new in 1978.
I don't ride it as much as I used to because I like to climb and it's hard for me to spin a 42. But still the best feeling bike I've ever ridden. |

Did you restore any/all of these? Incredible collection with an interesting variety. Made my morning to gander at these! I'm 100% steel now and have only had a handful of non-ferrous bikes since day 1. Current stable: '71 Schwinn Twinn 5 spd (one owner -my father-in-law..) '74-75 Raleigh Competition w/ older refin by JP Wiggle (slowly collecting francophile stuff for it) '89-90 Merckx 10th Anniv. w/ older refin to Molteni by Cyclart (collecting period Mavic stuff to replace clapped out D/A 8spd) '91 Salsa La Raza (frame for 650b conversion?) '94 Salsa La Cruz (daily driver) '98 Gunnar Street Dog (853 rat-rod) '98 Gary Yakoda (Ritchey WCS MTB) '03 lugged EL-OS w/ SL fork blades I built at a friend's pro framebuilding shop (mille grazie Rich Adams!!!!) and my wife's wedding present '13 Rawland Nordavinden (all day road fattie) '16 Handsome She-Devil (minivan) incoming: '18 Falconer polyroadist - Ted Last edited by digiTED; 07-11-2017 at 10:59 AM. |

I've been having so much fun on this thing lately that I felt I needed to post it here.
1990 era Billato brothers built Greg LeMond, Columbus SL tubing. Really came into it's own with the wheelset in the pic. It was just waiting to have some rims of similar vintage, I guess...

Man oh man Vonruden, Niiiiiice. I love to sit on the floor stretching and admiring my couple of super clean builds. But your place must be like the Fast by Ferracci showroom! My wife would divorce me, but .......... !

my schwinn. according to the serial number, this is a paramount from 1972. local lore says that it was originally a custom build for rory oreilly. it now makes nacho runs in record time. |

I found this one in a far-away town last year on Craigslist, but by the time I called the seller, his son had relocated it much closer to my area.
I had one like it in the 70's and liked it, so had been casually searching for one in recent years. Search over! Handles like a truck, but in a good way, and holds it's own on moderate training rides through the local foothills. Last edited by dddd; 08-15-2017 at 01:17 PM. |
