A great picture would be of the riders crawling into the water stop between the double digit climbs on Skaggs Springs. It's right after lunch and in the baking sun.

Sorry, I don't take any photos on rides like this - it's all I can do to stay upright and keep pedaling and try to hang with the younger alpha dogs .. |

If you time your ride right, you can catch a headwind going both up and down river: the wind is usually from the SSW in the morning but this time of year will often shift to NNE in the very early afternoon. So, if you are going down river in the morning there is often a headwind and then turning around downtown noonish, you can enjoy the headwind going back too!

Thanks everyone for sharing your ride reports.
I rode both Sat. and Sun. Sat. about 75 miles total, 60 of which with my pals on a group ride. They came and rode in my area, which is nice and quiet country roads in the Liberty Hills, Bertram and Andice area. Not much to report of except we had a great time as usual. Somewhere along the way, we encountered another group of riders going the opposite way and definitely more decked out in their kits and bikes, and I would assume they are moving at a higher speed than us old geezers. Later in the day on Saturday we had an afternoon shower came by which cooled things off quite a bit so my ride on Sunday was really nice, about 45 miles in the 70s in the same area that I rode yesterday. I like to keep Sunday to myself, riding at my own pace and wherever I like to go. Even though it was a solo ride, it turned out to be more eventful that I imagined. A deer jumped right in front of me, 1/2 second quicker and we would kiss each other. It stumbled on its way and made a mess out of its escape but once it regained its balance and was in full stride on the pasture, i was amazed at its speed and grace. Too bad, it wasn't captured in the video. That reminded me that the deer population are in full swing and I need to watch out for them on my ride. Sure enough, in less than 1/2 a mile, another baby deer shot out of nowhere and banged right into a fence. I didn't look back to see if it makes out okay, have to keep my eyes in front. On the way back, I saw a cute family of foxes. By the time I got close enough, most of them were already hidden in the ditch except the papa fox which stood its ground and not moved until I got really really close, then it started walking into the bushes in a leisurely pace. I managed to take the phone out and captured a couple of shots. These are blown up so pardon the graininess. Some screen grabs from the video I took using the rear Garmin Virb camera mounted on my seat post.
