My wife does ask and does care. But I usually win out in the end. She's ok with parts, consumables, etc. But big purchases like bikes and frames? Nope. Four bikes was her limit.

I never thought I was going to join you guys. It was totally inconceivable to me that someone would have to hide. Then I moved and am doing the long distance thing and the hills around me began to call and...well you all know the rest.

She knows about #3 now, but I wouldn't say that I was perfectly forthcoming.

Who said anything about lying? Oh that's right, you did. No one else did. So there's that.

the nature of this thread isnt about surprising your s/o with amazon bike parts, so posts like “id rather bike stuff shows up when shes not there” implies youre hiding something or trying to get over on them.

I used to squirrel away money for a bike fund..then plunk down half in cash on purchase day. Explaining $3000 for a bike was easier than $ 6 K. Even tempted to do the same for carbon wheels at LBS, even though I could save with a web buy. I will never forget when I was driving home with a 17 ft carbon/kevlar kayak on the roof of my 4 Runner, trying to think of a "good" story. About a mile from home at a stop sign, I looked in the rear mirror and my wife was behind me... just shaking her head. But, 36 years later...all is still good. However, just today, after mentioning an incoming SR group purchased on PL for my Moots RSL, she said.." I thought you were done buying bike stuff... I guess you never will be ".

Gotta pick your battles and we ALL have some 'secrets' from our significant other. It's means nada..the 'other person' doesn't need to know everything, all the time..

No, the weird part is that we think we are being so clever and sneaky and they know what's going on all the time. The 'stupid' person is most likely......us

Wow - off the rails on this one -jeez. I like to get my parts before my wife gets home because once she is home, I end up with a more "prioritized" list to do. But if I am already doing something I'm safe.
