I recently got one of these to replace a Garmin 820 and so far I’m very satisfied. I haven’t had a chance to test battery life yet but it is supposed to be improved. I do hope that Garmin will eventually get to Wahoo-like simplicity for loading routes to the unit but they aren’t quite there yet.

I'm not sure what procedure you use to upload routes to your device, but after creating the .gpx file (ridewithGPS), I plug it into my computer and place the file into the "NewFiles" folder.
Then it appears in saved courses on the garmin.

That’s what I usually do. With the wahoos, all you need is your phone.

You can “kind of” do the same thing on the Garmin using the Strava routes widget if the route has been saved to your Strava routes. That is, open the widget, see your routes, load the one you want. But you still need to use your computer to save the route to Strava.
