The official Campagnolo WRL discussion thread

Since this drops in a few hours time, I thought we might start an "official" thread.

To commence proceedings, let's get all the predictable crap out of the way:

If Campy went full wireless: "Look at those bulky derailleurs, Campy gonna die!"
If Campy went internal battery: "Not even wireless, Campy's gonna die!"
If Campy releases a rim brake option: Campy's relying on its heritage and old men on Steel bikes... Campy's gonna die!
If Campy doesn't release a rim brake option: Campy's not catering to its heritage, Tullio would be spewing, Campy's gonna die!"
If Campy stuck with traditional chainring sizes and 11t cogs: "They have no 2x gravel group, Campy's gonna die!"
If Campy went with smaller rings and 10t cogs: "They're so inefficient, Campy's gonna die!" bonus response: "Ermagherd, gravel"
If Campy stuck with thumb shifter: "I need to move my wrists to shift, it's so unergonomic"
If Campy ditch the thumb shifter: "Campy's lost its identity!" see also "Tullio would be spewing"

Now that's behind us, some early pics.

OK, have at it... t-minus 4 hours...

Honestly, thumbs buttons, gear ratios, batteries, heritage....I am sure it will all be fine and well sorted. But those flesh colored shorts!?! Someone should be fired.

Is today's drop Super Record only, or are they refreshing multiple lines?

I'm here for the subcompact crankset content.

Edit: any yes, those shorts are terrible.

Looking for a lightly used WRL SR groupset if anyone's got any lying around. 172.5.

There's a reason why bike shorts are black. And since y'all have already seen those photos, I won't bother to repost.

50 34 crank

Combined with a 10 cog
Is that a tall enough gear for a world tour pro?

Instructions confirm a 12 speed quick link chain. I’m also glad the red is gone.

Now I kind of want a Rock Lobster built without cable stops.

Personally, I think it looks pretty nice. But then again I’ve usually thought most Campagnolo stuff looks pretty nice.

The overly large front der causes me to wonder if that could interfere with a rider’s leg or pedal stroke.

I don’t have a huge issue with Shimano’s semi-wireless setup but Campagnolo’s fully wireless is a bit more elegant. Fact is that regardless of design, an electronic setup has to have battery somewhere. And it seems like electronic is the way the industry is leading us at the high end whether or not we like it.

Definitely curious about the first ride reports when YouTube content creators get to report on this.

I’m not really interested in such an expensive group set or a new bike that might run $15K with top shelf wheels but it’s not a totally unthinkable thing either as I reach some milestone.

The Willier in David Arthur’s video looks really nice and clean with that wireless installation.

Love the new crank range of 45x29.

I can imagine that combining that range with Chrous 12-Speed 11-34 will be a killer climber range.

Otherwise, great to see Campy being so modern. I bet that for the customer segment this group set is aimed at, this will be a great fit.

Nice looking group, wonder how well campy will support these modern groups into the future? Are owners of early campy electronic groups able to get what they need to keep their bikes going?
