Name brand 2-piece "cool" disc rotors or inexpensive 1-piece no name rotors
What say you?
I have to replace some rotors, and I'm wondering if you really need the expensive, name-brand, (mostly) 2-piece "cooling" rotors or are the one-piece, all metal, no name-brand rotors just fine? Yes, I know it's your brakes and if they don't work you could die but... Do you really need to spend 4x to get a name-brand rotor? A different question might is do the two-piece rotors really perform that much better? How do you quantify their advantage over the no-brand rotors if any? |

If you are searching for centre lock, TRP Heat Dispersion Centerlock TRP-25 MTB Road Disc Brake Rotor 140mm/160mm/180 $19.99, free shipping. A little bit on the heavy side however, more mass equals better cooling.

Sadly, I'm 6-bolt, 203mm, and I need a pair. Thanks.

I’ve been running SwissStop Catalyst rotors and been extremely happy with them, and how quiet they are!
Here are the Catalyst One for $22 each: https://365cycles.com/products/swiss...-6-bolt-silver Or a pair for $45: https://365cycles.com/products/pack-...-6-bolt-silver Here’s the Pro version for $50 each: https://www.merlincycles.com/en-us/s...sc-rotor-99182

Disc brakes are ugly enough already, nice rotors ease the pain. This is coming from someone who’s too busy to working to really ride though, and was born in the same county as the Hope factory.

disco brakes
google the company Disco Brakes. They have a place here in the states but. stock has been low due to covid.
I bought one piece rotors. Nice looking rotors and their copper pads. Work so much better than sram and Shimano set up I was using. |
