Campy 12 install questions

For those that have installed Campy 12 before:
- install inline adjuster for front derailleur or leave out? Think I’d like the look without it but adjuster came with kit.
- do I need to go out and get rear break ferrules for where it enters and exits frame stops (unpainted titanium)? Kit did not have…
Thanks all! First timer installing 12 speed.

Don’t need the inline adjuster if you have a barrel adjuster on the frame stop. If you don’t, you’ll need the inline to dial in the tension properly (12s is similar but more sensitive to adjustment than 11s)

If you can track down 2 ferrules, worth using, unless the cables seat snugly in the stops.

I’d also recommend checking derailleur hanger alignment before getting too deep into install, again, 12s is a little less forgiving than 11s for alignment issues.

Leave it out. Install and adjust front der, TIGHT cable, close to chain when in lowest gear. 3 clicks to get chain onto big ring.

Get 5 mm brass ferrules for the cable stops on that frame. Wheels Manufacturing or your friendly LBS..they had BETTER have those.

Maybe it's just me but I find it easier turning the inline adjuster than those on the downtube.

I've done it both with and without an inline adjuster, and I find that I can get better performance from the front derailleur when I can micro-adjust the cable tension. I use Jagwire Pro Mini adjusters, which are small and relatively unobtrusive.

I use the Hozan fourth hand tool to get cables tight

Then turn inner limit screw out a tiny, wee bit..moves the FD off the chain, then small cog, 3 clicks to big ring, and turn the outer limit screw so it just touches the stop..Don't cram it down.

I've been using this technique since I read about it in one of your posts a few years ago. Very useful-thanks for sharing.
