BB30 cranks in BSA frame

I’m looking at transferring parts from my CAAD10 to a frame with BSA BB.

Current cranks are FSA SLK cranks. I’m assuming 30mm spindle.

Do I simply need a BSA30 BB to make this work? Will any of them do? I see Rotor makes one.

Thanks.

Not familiar with that crank, do you have spacers on either side of the bottom bracket? If it's like SRAM's BB30 crank (with the integrated spider, like your crank) then the spindle would be too short to fit in a BSA frame.

Labeling from different brands can make this a little difficult, but BB386 is the most appropriate standard that will work in BSA. The only difference between a true BB30 meant for the 68mm BB30 shell, and BB386 is the spindle length. Keeping that in mind, some companies have produced labeled BB30 cranks with longer spindles, that's essentially equivalent to that of BB386, or well within tolerance to be used in a BSA frame.

Going by Wheel's MFG recommendations, you'll need a spindle length of at least 104mm.

I've found this to be pretty spot on in the past, but it has been something I've needed to clarify whenever I've bought BB30/PF30 cranks that I've used on my BSA frames in the past.

I had a CAAD10 and the FSA cranksets were native BB30; not BB386 (longer spindle). Native BB30 wouldn’t work on a BSA bb shell.

Measured: the spindle is around 84mm long, so won’t work. So this must be a BB30 specific crank.

Ah well. Guess I’ll have the shop for an Ultegra crankset to match the rest of the groupset.

Thanks all.

By spindle length, people are referring to the entire length of the spindle, as opposed to the visible spindle length with both arms secured.

The latter dimension (not including the splined end of the spindle) needs to be I believe ~86mm for use with BSA30 bottom bracket cups.

That 30mm spindle is likely too short to clear the external bearing of a BSA 30 bottom bracket.

I've run long spindle SRAM BB30/PF30 cranksets on BSA threaded bottom brackets using bottom brackets from Kogel, race face, and FSA (MegaEvo).

I did notice an easton 30mm bsa bb was wider than the wheels version which allowed my rotor cranks to work way better.
