I am jonesing for the Ibis Hakka MX. You can run 2.1" tires with 650c wheels or 42 mm tires with 700c wheels.

Santa Cruz Stigmata - any owners here?

You should buy one. Here's mine:

They are incredible bikes. Since I got it in May, I've ridden it 5x more than any other bike I own. Just can't get enough of it. Pic is with Cazadero back/BG RnR front. Right now I have it set up with fenders and G One Speeds. Contemplating getting a second wheelset so I can sell another bike.

650b would be amazing, and if the Hakka MX had been around when I was buying I would be seriously considering. One thing I love about the stigmata though is how stiff the BB area is, and I wonder about that a bit on the Hakka. With road slicks, sprinting on the SC really doesn't feel that much different than it does on a dedicated carbon road bike (my reference point here is primarily a variety of Cervelos).

Has anyone else tried the 42c WTB Resolute on the back to see if it fits? I find the cazadero's tread pattern to be ****e climbing steep loose stuff. Like significantly worse than a 33c proper cx tire. Looking to mix it up a bit.

I also wonder if the 47c riddler would fit up front. There's still a reasonable amount of clearance with a 43c BG RnR.

The old school Stigmatas are so cool. Not too common, either, at least in my vicinity.

First time I have heard about this Ibis. Looks like a more reasonably priced version of the Open U.P. Hmm...

My friend has a new Stigmata but I don't think it fits 650b's. I love my Giant TCX Advanced because it can, and it's still a world-championship winning cross bike with the 700c wheels on it. It really could be the N=1 bike with a couple wheelsets. I run Force CX1 with TRP Spyres and have zero brake rub/noise.

Thanks for measuring. I am surprised there is so little clearance when Santa Cruz says there is clearance for 41s. Typically that means there would be at least 5 mm clearance to all sides with an actual 41 in there.

Ever since Idris Icabod mentioned the Ibis Hakka MX, I have been intrigued by these "gravel plus" bikes with the ability to run 650b wheels. Obviously, there is the Open U.P., but that might be too rich for my blood. As I was searching other options, I came across the KHS Grit 440:

Full carbon frame/fork (with rack and fender mounts), thru axles front and rear, flat mount disc brakes, threaded BB (!!!), and clearance for 27.5 x 47 tires. Plus the geometry looks like it will work really well for me. The one concern I have is the longer chainstays on this bike (435mm) versus some of its competition (for example, the Open UP is 420mm); wonder if that will make it feel sluggish on the road.

Any thoughts?

Get a lightweight wheelset along with something like Compass SwitchBackHill extralights setup tubeless and that bike would not feel sluggish IMO.

My bike had 435mm chainstays with the above setup and it flies. HTA 71.5

The Stigmata just got some smart updates for gravel. 2.1s, threaded bb, fenders, stack+ etc
Nice colors too

Here's the link to the new Stigmata: https://www.santacruzbicycles.com/en-US/stigmata

That green color is sweet! The Rival build looks pretty solid for the money too.
