OT: Land Cruiser appreciation thread and maybe Monteros and others

Been at least a day since we've had a good car/truck/vehicle thread. I know there are some Land Cruiser enthusiasts here..

No Monteros.....@AZrider...Ok just kidding, you can post your Montero.

I have a '96 80 series and an '07 LX470 100 series. About 220,000 on the 80 and only 69,000 on the 100. My oldest son turned 16 last November so he was given the keys to the 80.

Love them both! I think most of my pics are on a different drive so I'll have to look for those.

I've had for 12+ years. Anything else was going to cost money. Plus he can't speed now!! Haha

I LOVE 100 series LCs and LXs. I have a 2002 LX as my daily driver with close to 260K on it. Hard to believe that it's almost 20 years old - it's in great condition. I've put 100K miles on it myself. The build quality and solidity of the vehicles is fantastic. Plus they're the perfect blend of classic and modern.

Here are pics of it in different parts of Texas.

Haha, your truck is super sweet!

No RTT. With a family of 4 it never seemed like a good option. I guess there are some big ones now, though. We tent camp anyway. For some solo or 2 person nights a RTT would be pretty cool.

Warning:pics

I like the above 80 series a lot! The ARB bumper and roof rack is great.

I have a 1992 land cruiser than I traded my old 1989 Toyota pickup for. It had a blown head gasket (how do you blow a 3F-E head gasket??) and was ran for a long time that way so the motor was toast. I was fortunate enough to have been given a free 3F-E from a Canadian 80 series that was diesel swapped, then given to someone that put it in a 60 series which was rolled. So my 80 series is the 3rd vehicle this motor has been in. I rebuilt a whole lot of stuff when I swapped the motor as well - back in I think it was 2016-2017. Since then I've driven it to many state parks, camping trips, daily, hauling stuff, driving back and forth between CA and WA, etc... It had 248k miles on the ODO when I got it but the speedo/odo hasn't worked so who knows how many miles are on it. It runs like a boss tho and has cold AC! 16mpg pretty consistently. I don't have anything to prove against the jeep/mitsu or whatever guys but to be honest the 80 series is pretty amazing off road. On road, well, yeah...

wow you keep that truck nice. the engine bay is CLEAN! 3FE is slow but indestructable. Love the 80, i'm going to do some work on mine now that the weather is cooling down a tad.

If anyone has a rear spoiler (flat black) for the 80, LMK. I took mine off when I had a RTT, and lost it.

We love our 2003 100. We’ve had it for a couple of years. I bought it with 135,000 miles on it. It now has about 155K on it. Solid, comfy and reliable, it’s the vehicle I’d take if I didn’t know where I was going but I wanted to get there.

I'm thinking about ditching the Subaru and getting one of these. A 100 Series LX470. I don't drive much except for trips so gas mileage isn't that big of a concern.

Do you put winter tires on these or are AT's sufficient?
