From Carbon to Alum. drop bars

So I have some Enve 44cm drop bars that have been great but I think I need to go wider, my shoulders actually measure 49cm last time I was measured. I have a pair of 48cm fogcutter bars but I've been hesitant because they are aluminum and I likely have to run new cables. Am I crazy to go back to aluminum? Is there much of a difference in road feel? I'm on a Ti disc road bike fyi.

Thumbs up

Quality carbon fiber handlebars are terrific.
Quality aluminum handlebars are terrific.

The material does not significantly impact the ride.
Adjusting tire pressure a few pounds is more noticeable.

Enjoy the new set-up once completed!

Agreed, in my experience the shape of the bar and your choice of bar tape make more difference than the material of the bar - unless you are counting grams or are at an extreme end of the construction spectrum (i.e., some bars, regardless the material, are outliers in terms of flexiness or stiffness). I can't tell a difference between Ritchey Evocurve WCS aluminum vs. carbon, for example, when riding them with the same bar tape.
