If Lael Wilcox was the conveyance, it’d be on time.

I had a recent experience whereby a frame shipped from NY to Slovakia first went to Los Angeles.
I subsequently asked a guy at the Post Office about this and he wasn’t surprised.
He said that the USPS has gotten away from humans sorting/routing packages and that it’s now done by machines which read the shipping labels etc.
But I think you’ve got me beat with your story!

Lately just the opposite

My last 3 shipments that involved USPS for delivery have been 2, 7, and 1 day earlier than projected when initially shipped.

I guess I’ve been very lucky

Looking at it from a numbers perspective - the volume of pieces of mail/packages USPS handles compared to FedEx, UPS, etc, you're going to have more (ridiculous) mishaps.

On the other hand, look at the number of FedEx screw-ups. For my household, every other package is delayed, temporarily lost or goes on a tour de force before making it to our house.

I shipped a frame via Fedex Ground from Cape Cod to Pittsburgh. It took a side trip, on a ferry, to Martha's Vineyard.

Perhaps it was my fault. Checked Fedex Water?

I shipped a repair stand via USPS to a gent I know in the Netherlands..It was late, late so checked tracking and found it..in Saudi Arabia..finally got there, in about 3 weeks.

But overall, very pleased with US shipping via USPS priority or Ground Advantage..Not expensive and reliable. Same with UPS and bike wheels...

NHAero wanted to see if it would fit him.

So that item was shipped in Colorado?

Looks like that's where the disconnect was. Amazon does this to me all the time, they say they have shipped something and USPS tracking doesn't fully agree. But in that case, it almost always gets here by the projected date. Even though Amazon has waited until the last minute to dump it on USPS

I think UPS is slower than USPS.

I had a package recently shipped from NY to CA via UPS but was delivered to my home by USPS. Took over a week to get here.

with usps it seems to get here before they manage to record it in the system.

That Lael remark is funny.

She’s covering SO many miles per day, for so many days … I’m still kicking myself that I didn’t call in sick Tuesday and try to ride with her on Whidbey or the peninsula. A once in a lifetime chance that I passed up for a day of work meetings.

I shipped a chainring to a Paceliner in October '23. USPS Flat Rate Priority Envelope dropped into the slot at my local post office. Still hasn't been scanned almost a year later and buyer never received it.

Oh no! NEVER do that! If it's worth anything I go to the counter so they scan the label and print a receipt.
