inspirational photos

saw this on instagram this morning, and was immediately "spoken to". just wanted to share it here. it is a beautiful photo and pulls at my heart strings, so to speak. my wanderlust chromosomes are tingling for a cycling trip.

feel free to post others.

Lysefjorden? There's a rollerski race and a triathlon that use that course. It looks incredible. That tunnel blows my mind.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. We (in the Northern hemisphere) are 9 days away from the shortest day of the year. Meteorological winter just started 12 days ago, and has several more months to go... in other words, welcome to the hellscape -- get used to it.

Inspiration is cheap. Discipline son, that's the ticket to success. Anyone can be inspired by an image, a motto, a pep talk. That's good for a couple hours of motivation. Discipline, that's doing what needs to be done even when you aren't inspired. Maybe even when you don't want to do the thing that needs to be done.

Just sayin'.

Now, you want the see the other side of glory? The pain, the hollow feeling of reaching your limit before the finish line, the absolute sacrifice required as a rider and team mate, then look no further than Gianluca Brambilla's face as he gasps for air on the final climb of Strade Bianche.

A lot of Houston's photographs in the 'gravel bikes' thread are inspirational.

I'll also offer this one, of the Gavia:
