Sporttracks (computer based) alternative??

I've been using SportTracks ST3 on my laptops for years to track my mileage and bike usage. It has allowed me to see how many miles I get out of tires, when to change out my chains and cassettes among other things.

I like the fact that it is home computer based and not web-based. Unfortunately, it is no longer being supported. I found out the hard way when I was unable to import .fit files from my new Elemnt Bolt (just upgraded from a Garmin 705). The new SportTracks is now web-based and costs $59/year.

Does anyone know how to import the Wahoo .fit files into ST3?

What are your recommendations for an alternative that can be loaded onto a laptop? I know about strava, ridewithgps, mapmyride and others but I really loved the functionality of ST3 and the ability to track each of my 4 main bikes.

Anyone use Golden Chetah or Mytourbook? What do you think?

Thanks in advance!!!

You can track use/miles of bikes and equipment on Strava.

Golden Cheetah

I was a long time user of Sporttracks and switched to Golden Cheetah three years ago. I also prefer to have my data and analysis based locally on my laptop and not in the cloud.

Advantages for me:

- not web based, but does show a map with route if you are connected to the web.
- plenty of analysis tools built in. Quite honestly, sometimes it can be like taking a drink from a fire hose (see disadvantages)
- easy to track rides with different bikes or equipment. I like to know how many miles are on the CX bike, the road bikes, the 29er, and the trainer. I think Strava would not do this easily (may be different now).
- some pretty good videos by the developer that explain the various features
- price is right

Disadvantages for me:

- I find the interface less than intuitive
- A lot of features and analysis tools intended for triathletes and for those with power meters. They are background clutter for me.
- Fonts. I have yet to figure out how to control the fonts to make them a reasonable size in all parts of the display.

Hope that helps.

Jan G.

foo_fighter,

The plugin is for trial use only until you pay for it but the website to purchase the plug in is closed...permanantly. OMB ran it and is no longer supporting it.

That's a bummer.

Thanks for the help foo!! Greatly appreciated.

I think I will move to Golden Cheetah to try out. It looks like I can color-code a ride to a specific bike. I currently don't have a power meter so much of the capability of GC is wasted right now. Maybe I will have a pm in the future.
