Ot: home speakers
it's come up before so no need to rehash everything but I got speaker recommendations for mstr and Leon speakers, neither of which I'm familiar with. Anyone know these? Worth considering?
Fwiw, I was so far looking at elac and klipsch, leaning more towards klipsch cuz its more of the type of sound id be using it for, sports, tv, whole home boogy music. Not an audiophile. |

I recently bought the Sonos 1 and the Beam for the tv.
Extremely good sound quality and my wife and I were just talking about getting the new Sonos 5. Easy set up and great app. |

The Play :5 is fantastic as a single and amazing as a stereo pair. They just announced a new one so the prior model is on sale...

sonos is not necessary as my walls are all open and wires have been run for a traditional amp system. wiring is not a constraint so any and all speakers are possible. i get that people are happy with the sound quality but really there's no need to limit the choices.

Are you looking for floorstanding or bookshelf speakers?
One pair or speakers in multiple rooms? Will they be used as part of a home theater?

Ascend Acoustics
I have been very pleased with my Ascend Acoustics set-up. I went with the Sierra-2's for the front, HTM-200SE rear and have their CBM-170SE in my office. I've since upgraded the center speaker to their giant Sierra Horizon. They've added a few more products since I bought my gear. All around great bang for the buck.

I'm not familiar with mstr or Leon speakers. I have Klipsch R-15M's with a subwoofer for the basement. The sound is very good and well balanced. I'd like more volume, but it's for the most part good enough. Very good for the size.
On the main floor, we have some old budget priced Mission speakers that have exceeded my expectations for years. |

I do consider myself an audiophile, I’ve subscribed to Stereophile and The Absolute Sound off and on for decades, and follow the industry closely, and I have never heard of those first two companies. I don’t think you could go wrong with either Elac or Klipsch.

What kind of setup do you want? Receiver and speakers? Just self powered speakers? Sound bar? Hi-fi with amp? |

All good questions that I asked too. My setup is receiver with 5.1.2 Klipsch Reference Premier and a REL sub.

Agreed. I went with Klipsch Reference Premier and a REL Sub for a 5.1.2 into a Yamaha RX-A780

5.1 system
center, bookshelf L/R, and in-ceiling rears + sub other than sub, i'd like them all to be matchy matchy source is almost all TV/movies and live sports. music is strictly social and never do i find myself just sitting there dissecting tone and timbre. i don't need audiophile, but i do know quality. there will be a multi room system, but whatever i decide for the ceiling rears will probably just get used there as well |

I can say the same thing, long-time audio geek who also has never heard of those first two companies. Elac, in particular, has a wide range of really good value speakers.
