Deda Superleggero.
I have this one three of my bikes. Looks great, works great, and it's one of the lightest out there - without going to WW stuff. |

No damage to the black finish?

The black stayed perfectly intact, see my CAAD10 below with full de-logoed Pro Vibe cockpit

+1 on using Acetone to remove logos. Needed a bit of elbow grease to de-logo my Ritchey WCS stem, but it worked fine.
Might not work 100% perfectly on some stems though. |

best stem is kalloy uno. Debadged with black ti bolts. Looks nice, its light (100g for a 110g), looks great, great bolt system, probably my favorite.
worst looking... enve stem. Heavy, bolbous, expensive. |

I get complements on my Zipp Service Course SL aluminum stem in beyond black. Light enough, seems well made, very subtle graphics. The Kalloy Uno is a great choice for the money.

On an older round tube titanium frame, I think something less chunky would look better.
Kalloy Uno Deda Zero 100 or Superleggero Easton EA90 Ritchey WCS 220 But it is hard to beat Kalloy for the price and weight. You can even buy a stealth version from Fairwheel Bikes (with no logos) for $35. |

Stems I have used and like are: Deda Superleggero, Fizik R1, 3T Arx, WR Compositi, tune Geiles Teil, Oval Concepts. Also: Moots, with removable face, really great, but that is a ti stem. Stems I have used and disliked (for mechanical or aesthetic reasons) are: Enve, older Deda Newton, Ritchey, older Syntace (F99 model maybe?), threadless Cinelli Grammo. Kalloy get great reviews for budget/quality. This is a good page with lots of images and specifications located in one place for you to further search: https://ccache.cc/collections/stems |

It may not work aesthetically with your Merlin but if you want something rather unusual, the Deda Superzero, unlike the conventionally shaped Superleggera, has weird and to some eyes, interesting lines... due to the flat top, the transition from the steerer is reminiscent of integrated aero stems.
