My main complaint is the shape. Compared to SRAM, that bulb on the end didn't look too bad but compared to mechanical brake Ultegra shifters it's massive. It makes one of the hand positions (fingers over the top of the "bulb" and palms on hood) I like much less comfortable. But they're noticeably longer, too, which has me contemplating trying a shorter stem but makes me feel like I'd be starting down the path of fitting a square peg in a round hole. Like I said, might just take some time to get accustomed. Only ridden them twice so probably not a fair shake yet.

Been exceptionally happy with this guy, fast, solid, and stable. But have been feeling the need for a similar looking build, except allroad 1x with disc brakes and bigger tires (32's). Would also allow me to tweak the geometry a bit (little more stack to remove spacers, little more reach (10mm), and add an integrated seatpost.

...Have an identical frame setup for mechanical that I've been running as a commuter, and have been sort of thinking as offloading that one.

Updated Alliance

Swapped out the ENVE fork for a Falz2. Only a few rides so far, but very happy with the switch. Given the 1 1/8 straight steerer on the Falz, had to swap out the bottom HS cup for a larger (sounds counter intuitive, but CK no longer makes a 1 1/4 - 1 1/8 Devolution base plate) Inset7. I actually think the interface feels 'stiffer' with the larger cup.

Fair question. TBH, I often wonder whether I let my expectations around equipment changes affect my experience. The Falz fork blades are thinner (width) than ENVE and curved. I expected this to translate to a smoother ride, which I am experiencing. As mentioned above, I do also feel that the interface between the CK Base Plate the Inset cup is better. With the tapered ENVE fork and the Inset8 cup was never perfect.

Yeah i’ve just been poking around in this myself. any idea what the head tube specs would be that would allow me to run an integrated / inset headset for a 1 1/8 to 1 1/4 tapered steerer??

Probably the most common Chris King headset used with a 1 1/8 to 1 1/4 tapered steerer would be an Inset 8 headset with a 44 mm straight headtube.
But different headtubes would require different headsets. What frame do you want to put it on and what headtube does it have?

Edit: I just scrolled up and saw your Walty. If that's the bike you want to use the tapered steerer tube fork on, it won't work. That frame will only accept 1 1/8" straight steerer tube forks.

Well that’s the thing, i’m going to be getting a custom TI frame and wondering how i can spec the headtube to allow for a dropset headset with a 1 1/8 to 1 1/4 tapered steerer; or if that’s even possible.

Do you want a dropset or an inset headset? With an Inset headset, you would see the bottom headset cup. With a dropset, the bearings would be inside the headtube and the fork would be right up against the bottom of the headtube.

Chris King has a tool to help you figure out what you need. https://chrisking.com/pages/fit-finder

Select Headset and then you can play around with the head tube types and sizes. It will then tell you what headset you need for each combination.

taz-t's Concours

I know a little about taz' Concours as I'm the original owner. It's a 2002. I live in Michigan but bought it new from Mt. Cycology in Vermont. I saw that shop featured in a Serotta catalog and reached out to the owner. It was originally Azure blue in the 3/4 paint, 1/4 matte ti scheme. I love the Serotta Indy scheme so I had Matt Assenmacher here in Michigan paint it years ago. Main color is a light blue with navy panels and silver bands. Kestrel EMS fork. It was a great bike. I miss it but now have a Moots and a Meivici. I know it's changed hands here on the forum a few times. Hope you are enjoying it taz. Thought you may want to know a little bit of the bikes history. Added a few shots after I got it back from Matt.
