Well, I would disagree...then again, it's been 10 years since I owned one, perhaps it would make more sense to me now?

But their stock is crazy low or gone all together. They had so many SKUs. Same with the stems. When I went to shops I used to have 100+ posts alone with all the lengths, colors, setbacks, diameters. It got to be a lot. They aren’t even doing the bags anymore for OEM buyers. The two I recently got were in plastic bags.

They never sold the 26.4 diameter which is a standard in older road bikes and used by Fat Chance on the Wicked, a popular frame in the high end east coast mtb scene. They did sell 27.0 and 28.6 which is more of a rare spec.

woof. between no more bags and the price raise to $115 for posts and stems, not a lot of good reason to buy Thomson anymore, IMO

thomson stems are cheap cnc crap
proper stems and seat posts are forged
manufacturing tolerances on cnc'd parts worsens as the tooling wears

I venture to guess that Thomson went through a cost cutting exercise that resulted in good-enough products. Originally, I don't remember their quality being as bad as it has been in the past 3-4 years. Their hardware are cheap compared to Fizik, Deda, or 3ttt.

You can thank the tariffs on aluminum for the price increases. Everyone in the US had to increase prices- King, White, I9, Cane Creek, Paul. Hell, Anvil stopped making frame jigs! He showed a picture of a stack of aluminum used in 2016 vs a stack in 2018. It was 1/4 the size due to the increase in costs cause of the tariff war. And he just built this stunning new facility for do everything.
