That would be in 2015 when I drove a VW Passat, 5 speed manual with turbo, to the person that was purchasing it. I have always liked driving manual trans vehicles. I do not have one now only because the cars I have had since just happen to be automatics.

Just let go of our 17 year old 5spd Jetta TDI Wagon. 500,000km on the original clutch! If it were not for the excessive rust we would still have it in the driveway. The body was disintegrating but mechanically it would not die. Finding a manual transmission is not easy at all. We tried to find something to replace the Jetta with that had a stick but zero luck. we now have a Honda CRV with the CVT transmission...the CVT it is lovely but it is not at all like having gears. Life moves on.

We're on the lookout for a 'new-to-us' used car and standards just keep getting harder and harder to find..

I haven’t read much of this thread but was curious when I saw the title. I only drove manual until we moved to Europe (ironically) and we bought a Cheap auto Volvo. We’ve never been back. My wife likes auto and I’ve gotten lazy !

I am curious about it, as they’re surely more engaging to drive. My buddy just bought a manu Mazda and has said I can drive it any time

We are slated for a new car in the next year or two and I would consider it, but my lady and I kinda switch cars based on purpose (big job/small job) and I do t k ow if I can convince her to return to her roots

I just road my stick shift Miata to the grocery store a few minutes ago. I love to drive stick shift cars. I find automatic boring.

Drove the mk7 GTI today. Has 6MT as it should. Pound for pound the best car around; wish it still belonged to me.

I need to amend my comment. Does driving my TDI Sportwagen and using the manual shifter mode count? I use that all the time...but not really the same thing. Handy tho.

Drove one today.

From the lodge at Killington up to the lift. Later back down the hill. With a downshift and possibly some drifting in the rain.

This is like asking in a "DT shifters are great" thread if SRAM eTap Blip Grips provide the same ride experience.

True

That said if I was rich I'd hire a driver and never pilot my own car again.

Drove my mk6 gti with a 6MT today. I nearly sold it twice in the last few months but I realized today that I was happy I didn’t. I think I might like it more than the 7.

The mk6 is excellent, and I might prefer its body style to that of the mk7. Almost bought a mk6 R at one point. I prefer driving the mk7, but would be happy with either.
