Bora one 50 or WTO 45
Is it worth changing from Bora one 50 to WTO 45, any thoughts?

if you already have one 50 not worth the money to change....

...unless u r seeking tubeless (“2-way fit”) compatability, then definitely not worth it. A proper upgrade would be to go tubular instead of tubeless... u won’t regret it.

If you have the newer version of the One 50, I would say absolutely not. Campagnolo makes some aero claims about the 45, but I've not seen any data compared to other wheels. I've never even seen a diagram of the shape of the 35,50, or new 45 wheels, for that matter.

Any way to get an idea of the shape of the rim (is it V shaped or egg shaped). The original Boras were V shaped. I don't know about the newer 35 and 50. Campagnolo doesn't show cross section diagrams like most other wheel makers.

"worth it" in what regard?
spoiler alert: probably not.

You would probably yield a better improvement going from clincher (if that is what you have) to tubular with some Veloflex tires.

The WTO should be a bit more aero, but it seems the biggest aero improvement was when they went from the 20mm wide rims to the 24mm wide rims. The WTO are closer to 27mm I think. I guess it depends on what width tire you are running though is a bit difference in width from the tires to the rim width will kill aerodynamics..
Unless you are racing the wheels in TT's, or racing and trying to break off the front of the group I would say that it doesn't matter. |
