Into the slow time of year

Pro racing season is over, road riding season around here is pretty much over except for breaks in the weather, cycling blogs have nothing to write about except for cross races and off-season training camps,... Only people excited about this time of year around here are deer hunters.

I'm already dreaming about rides and trips for next summer, and longing for the great rides of summer past.

Now I'm gonna hear it from those in warmer climes. "Quit your moaning."

I'm looking forward to deer hunting. After that I'm gonna figure out when to have my hip replaced so as I can take care of the snow and still have a decent spring and good summer of riding . Good news is I'll have venison to eat.

Vermont is stunning. My second favorite state after my "home" state. I'm really lucky to live here. Cycling weather year round. OTH, there's really no excuse for "getting out of cycling shape."

I take my hat off to you guys (and gals) who cycle through Winter in the US Northern states. I won't ride if it less than 10... celcius.

I’m in Mexico for 10 days doing Tequila research. Quit your moaning.

I had to wear bib knickers yesterday morning since it was in the high 50's. Castelli Velocissimo are pretty nice. While on the ride I looked at some trees with the leaves falling off and could only dream what the fall foliage would have looked like where you can actually notice the change in seasons. My friend who transplanted to Minnesota has bad things to say about me when I post on FB. Does this count as moaning?

I’m fortunate to live in year round cycling weather. I don’t think I would ride in colder weather either. Although Zwift is pretty good indoors....

Do the neoprene shoe covers really keep your feet warm at say 40-50f? I'm from Maine and don't ride outside once it gets below 40. Some people say wool socks alone are better than the covers

OTOH, we now have the intersection of pro football, college football, NBA and college basketball, EPL soccer, so plenty to watch while anchored to the couch or trainer.

I have thinnish neoprene covers that I’ll use down into low 40’s. I have thick one with rubber bottoms that are like dive booties that are good for sub freezing. I never using them though, because the rest of my body isn’t on board with that.

It’s fat bike season here in Western New York. Plenty of opportunities to be out riding.
