OT: late model VW Sportwagen?

I own a 2016. Was just googling around and surprised to find few used ones on CL or Autotrader. Are folks hanging on to them? I know no more in 2020. Are folks hanging on to them?

Not many were sold new so there won't be very many available used.

Yup. Just not that many sold. ie:

Toyota Camry sales:
2018—343k
2017—387k

VW Golf sales:
2018–42k
2017–69k

And the Golf number includes Golf, GTI, and SW

I’d much rather drive a SW than a Camry, personally.

I have a 2016 that's off lease in February...going to turn it in for an EV. Wish VW was bringing the ID.3 to US. Looking for a used Chevy Bolt to hold me over so I can give it a few years to see how the ID.4 Crossover that's supposedly coming out end of 2020 does.

And pretty sure that the gti sold the most out of all the golfs so probably not a lot of sws out there. Heres to hopping I get to sell my manual 2017 for decent money in a few years

We are happy with our 2017 SW. Will likely run it into the ground then move to an EV.

This.

Our local dealer has contacted me twice now regarding trading mine in for a 2019 SW... looks like a nationwide VW marketing thing. Notably, the 2019's have a 6 yr warranty, rather than my car's 3 yr plan. And apparently 2019's may be the last year of production.

I would be tempted if the amount offered for my low mileage 2017 was more realistic... $12K...

Well you can maybe sell it yourself for a more realistic price and still get a deal on a new one?

Yeah, the Sportwagens are being discontinued...partially because they as re moving to the Mk8 generation and the current SW is built on the Mk7 platform. Also because Americans don't buy enough wagons and hatchbacks. :-(

So the dealers are probably getting desperate to sell off the 2019s.

Ken, I don't know. Happy with the '17 GSW, so haven't really looked into selling it.

Just thought it was interesting... and as posted above, I suppose VW's attempt to clear inventory.
