i regret selling. definitely faster and livelier than surly, but they're both great bikes. i ended up keeping the surly cross check because its a true hauler, i don't feel bad beating it up and locking it up overnight. to this day the cross check has lived with me longer than any bike. i switched the pink for a shorter wheelbase, short head tube steel racer.
it was my main ride for over a year and i ran it with 32mm and had room for a lot more. it's a super fast commuter. you can easily drop people on any climb if you wanted to. then again you can do that with a cross check too i guess. my pink build with full steel fork and ultegra 6800 came out to around 18.5-19 lbs
