Went on my first mountain bike ride in about 25 years yesterday....

About a 18 months ago one of my best friends died from prostate cancer...I was the only friend his wife knew who rode bikes so she gave me his mountain bike a couple months ago. I had the shocks and brakes rebuilt over the winter and I finally got it out for a ride...

It is not much of a mountain bike trail...but I am not much of a mountain biker....John Wayne Trail, starting from Rattlesnake Lake and heading up Snoqualmie Pass...it is an old Milwaukee Road train bed converted to a multi use trail.

I used to ride that when I was working in Bellevue. A gorgeous ride, and not a bad remembrance.

I rode my flat-bar gravel-bike to the beach on Saturday. Relatively short, ~20 miles with about ~2000' vertical. The climb is on dirt/gravel, while the descent down the pavement on the other side is worse. My wife picked me up from the beach and we went out for dinner after. An excellent day!

Those are the Channel Islands in the distance. This is just west of Santa Barbara.

Fun cycling down the runways and seeing the various planes in the driveways of the houses! I ride by the airport all the time, but on that day's ride a friend asked if I had been through the airport community and off we went for a tour, including coming across a fun-looking yellow golf-cart/car convertible.

You are in a good spot, great riding around here.
