Photo from under GG Bridge,Sausalito and then from Tiburon side.
This route is a 31.12 mi route from Sausalito CA taking the long route to Tiburon via Corte Madera-Paradise Dr. The route has a total ascent of 1659.57 ft with maximum elevation of 285.2. Weather was perfect for a good workout on beautiful undulating roads. http://www.7x7.com/fitness-outdoors/...-paradise-loop Thanks to my friend Gary Rashid for suggesting this ride as well as being a guide. Glad to see you in the lane! Irks me to see so many people ride the sidewalk on that bridge. it's a 4 lane road!

Thanks, but it doesn't matter how many lanes there are when it's busy and full of port traffic...the sidewalk becomes a much safer place to be at those times for some riders. Lots of us have families and will gladly ride the sidewalk on roads like this if it means a safer crossing. It's also 9am on New Year's Day so there's little to no traffic, which is why we chose this route. Just because there's a couple "Share the Road" signs and a few "sharrows" painted on the pavement doesn't immediately mean traffic will cut you some slack, whether we think they should or not.

Ah. Well as someone who rode that bridge twice a day every day for some time, I never once felt like the sidewalk would be safer. It's illegal, a foot off the deck, usually busy with foot traffic, and you can ride almost the speed limit the whole way over in the lane. That and the fact that the bridge would be safer as a whole if all cyclists took the lane they've been given, and got drivers more accustomed to encountering us.
But this isn't a debate thread. Take the last word, if you want it!

Can't wait till post road rides don't look like post cross rides. Gonna be a while yet.
JUST cleaned my shoes yesterday, too. I'm never getting white cycling shoes again, I can tell you that. At least not till I move to San Diego. Someday. Maybe. Weather has actually been dry for most of this week, and actually looks good this coming week (and is why I finally cleaned my white shoes), but that's obviously not typical.
