Sounds like boutique metal bikes, except it’s a Specialized and it can’t hang out with the cool kids.

I'm not exactly a car guy, but if BMW came out with a mash-up between a 2020 M2 and a 1972 2002 - using modern materials and engine bits on that body-style and interior design, with a 6spd of course and hand-crank sunroof and windows - I'd be hard pressed not to find a way to lease one for a couple years.. Imagine how much fun that would be to roll around in? Especially if they threw a bunch of carbon in it and hit a super low weight with excellent balance.
People who say. "YaH bUt I hAd a SLfivE" are missing the point. This is a thoroughly modern bike reimagining what the classic road bike can be - and with beautiful paint and finish details. So there. Last edited by Clean39T; 10-08-2020 at 08:40 PM. |

My brother had one when he was in college and I was in high school (late 90s) - that car was so much find to drive.. a death trap, but fun to drive. As was the '64.5 Mustang I had at the time, briefly inherited before it was sold off and I had to buy my own car. Had a rebuilt 289 and 4 spd - no tach, just shift when it seemed right. Above 80 mph the speedometer would bounce all over the place and the thing felt like it was ready for lift-off. Lap-belts and no head-rests. AM radio. And a constant but faint smell of gas. Ah, the glory years.

I certainly don’t hate it... ticks a whole heap of the boxes most of us are looking for to be honest!!

The price and marketing makes me want to barf a bit.
But... what they are doing is pretty appealing. I love the round tubes, the lack of integrated cockpit, there's no acronyms or aerodynamic whirlygigs or proprietary parts. I bet it rides wonderful. |

And I like it, that says a bit, I am not an S guy at all. Just dig the round tubes and un-lowered seatstay. Looks like what I think a bike should look like.
Would be amazing with rim brakes but I feel like the rim brake ship has sailed for the big guys. |

So basically Specialized is going after the boutique carbon market; a mass-produced, cheaper Parlee Z Zero...
