Specialize Aethos

Get on the bandwagon!

Sure looks like an older Synapse/SS EVO to my eye.

Founder's Addition is going to be spoken for before you can cook a quesadilla:

saw it!

$14.5k for the Founders Edition.

wowza!

one thing that jumps out at me is it seems like the direction high end bikes are going is to high zoot somewhat proprietary touch point stuff.

i think most people in the market for a really $$$ bike are probably experienced riders, and i know for myself, i have a preferred bar shape and stem length, etc. I would not want to buy a bike with 1000 dollars worth of cockpit components that dont work for me that i would need to change out anyway.

i wonder how accommodating dealers will be with regards to flexibility on bar set-ups, $$$ saddles, seatposts, etc.

Or an SL5.
Price is expectedly unreasonable, but it sure fills a niche of people who want disc and lightweight, who may not be racers, and it sure is beautiful (at least in this paint)

27.2 seatpost
32mm tire clearance
External routing at stem
Non-integrated stem
Threaded bb
Minimal graphics
Clean design
Good colors

Dislikes:
Electronic only

This think would look great and probably almost feel proper old school with a top end mechanical group.

Also a quick shoutout to Specialized for getting a frame to 585g with disc brakes and a threaded bottom bracket

Actually looks like they went back to the Tarmac SL5 and tweaked it.

That might be Edition. Or maybe even Addiction. I say choose your own description, and have it painted on the downtube.

No collapsible handlebars? Deal breaker.

My canyon ultimate has all that except the threaded bb for less than 1/4 the price of the founders edition..

The color choices for the aethos do look great though, and agree mechanical would be nice

No hate here for the big S. I like it. I'd like to ride one. I'd buy a frame on sale in 2 years. Graphics/paint are rad. If I were a rich(er) dude, I'd have one on order.

Seems like with bikes keeping threaded BBs, cooler heads have prevailed (see what I did there)?

Yup . They also offer rim brakes. It’s just good to see more new offerings like that.

Yummy.
