SILCA optimal tire pressure calculator

https://info.silca.cc/silca-professi...ure-calculator

Based on your weight, riding surface, and kind of riding (e.g., road, tri, ccyclocross), the calculator gives you an optimal pressure front and rear.

Seems like I'd rather use "Trial and Error" to figure this out rather than give away my email address in exchange for something not hard to figure out.

I'm already on their e-mail list, so that doesn't bother me.

I know there is no anonymity anymore but I try to avoid giving out my info when reasonable alternatives exist. It seems like I get a lot of unwanted e-mails and phone calls, much of which is related to organizations selling this info.

pretty cool

Came out surprisingly close to what I'm already doing, for everyday road riding.

I used the Actual (measured) Width, not the numbers on the sidewalls.

I’m already on their mailing list, so I gave it a shot.

It recommends 10lbs more pressure than what I’m currently riding for road and 10lbs less than what I’m currently riding for gravel.

Seems a bit odd, plus no compensation for tubeless etc...

How do they define "optimal"?

I put in my info, then it took me to a new page. I had to refresh that page to see the calculator.

In my case, it suggests slightly lower pressures than I currently use for road and much lower pressures for gravel.

My front tire pressure with the Silca calculator is higher than the 15% tire drop tire drop chart that Frank Berto put out a long time ago.

SILCA optimal tire pressure calculator

Not sure how this is better than trial and error.

It calculated 10 psi more than I usually run. I’ve done it before and don’t like the ride, am not any faster, had more flats, and it beats me up more. YMMV

I tried it for CX and it gave me pressures for what i would run in a large-ish gravel tire, not my 33 mm CX tubulars. about 13 psi higher than i typically run for cross
