Advice / Help with new helmet

So I am pretty sure that I should replace my trusty 10 year old helmet. I can’t pull the trigger on a $300 helmet. Can a few of you chime in on a reasonable quality helmet that is still comfortable and of decent quality?

Bontrager WaveCel Helmets. I ride with one and encourage everyone I know who rides to ride one. Next level safety for your head. Hopefully, other helmet makers will come out with similar helmets.

I suffered several head injuries and know of other riders who have as well, so every little bit helps. I think these are about $150 to $200, not cheap, but it's like cheap insurance for your brain.

Some good options:
Bontrager Specter Wavecel
POC Omne Air Spin
Bell Stratus MIPS

I've had good luck with Giro helmets. I recently bought a Giro Cinder MIPS helmet. It's very comfortable and not so pricey.

My new Bontrager Starvos WaveCel cost just under $100. It fits me really well.

Comfort is an individual thing, and you'll just have to try them on, adjust them, and see how they feel. It's kinda like recommending shoes.

Anything MIPS is probably good. I've worn Giro helmets for decades. In the road category they have 7 helmets, all MIPS, starting at $67 USD. MTB - 9 MIPS. Recreational - 5 MIPS, starting at $55.

Adjustment options can be key to deciding whether or not a helmet "fits" and feels comfortable, so helmets with fewer options may rule themselves out.

I just bought the new Kask Mojito 3 to replace my crashed Garneau

Just used it yesterday on first ride. Really is nice

Comfortable & the way the sizing cradle works it does snug down on your head rather than just clamp around/tighten like most
Chin strap also very nice

You can get a pretty good deal on them, Usually $170 or so
Yes prices have gone up on many helmets. But I liked this one seemed to have more rear/side protection + sits lower in front

Bell & Lazer Blade+ also had some nice helmets in $99-ish range. It is hard as all I have is mail order so needed to go on reviews too

Good Luck

The big thing is safety and cost are not related. $50 on up will get you a very safe helmet. Even $10 on up will get you something totally fine.

I would get this $300 helmet for $129. The protone is an awesome helmet. I really like bike closet. I bought from them before and actually have visited them.

Shape matters.

Who made the current helmet?

I agree and seems to be one of those helmets that fits more than than not.

I'd also give a plug for the POC Omne Air Spin which seems to fit a wide selection of people.
